Back on track.

After six weeks at home in Oklahoma, our adventure is back on track.

Our first stop back on the road was Washington, D.C.

We spent a week gawking at the swoon-worthy architecture and soaking in our nation’s history. I stood in the very spot where George Washington read his resignation speech at our nation’s first capital and read from the actual Declaration of Independence. We were in awe.

My top five spots are:

  1. The Library of Congress
  2. The Bill of Rights
  3. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
  4. The Star Spangled Banner
  5. The Korean War Memorial

According to our rough estimates, we have driven more than 6,000 miles across 15 states in less than three months despite our detour home. Take a look at our interactive map to see our route so far, complete with photos and comments about some of our favorite spots.

Next up, we are headed to Colorado for a few days before flying to Europe!!!!! Stay tuned for more on that later this month. For now, enjoy a few of my favorite photos from our week in Washington.

I have always wanted to visit our Capitol but have yet to make that a reality. Looking forward to hearing more about it soon. Safe travels.
